
Meet The Candidate: Allan Bernard
Allan Bernard is a lifelong development practitioner, educator, and community advocate who has dedicated nearly three decades to improving lives across Jamaica and the Caribbean.
Currently an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Sociology and an Associate Researcher at the Centre for Entrepreneurship Thinking and Practice at the University of the West Indies, Mona, Allan blends academic insight with on-the-ground action. He has played key roles in shaping national development strategies and has contributed to major reports and programme evaluations both locally and regionally.
His work includes research and consulting for respected international organizations such as the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Organisation of American States (OAS), and the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID). For nearly ten years, Allan served at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), managing Jamaica’s portfolios in Development Grants, Democracy and Governance, and Citizen Security.
Understanding Our Candidate's
Allan’s leadership in development extends throughout Latin America and the Caribbean, including spearheading the creation of the Flanker Resource Centre in Montego Bay – an enduring symbol of his commitment to community empowerment.
He currently serves as Chairman of the PNP’s Political Education Commission and sits on the Policy and Vision Commission – two roles that reflect his deep belief in people-centered progress.
